MONAGH LEAGH SCORES (Special.) There was a large attendance at the Invercargill Trotting Club’s Patriotic Meeting. The weather was fine and the track fast. The totalisator handled £35,527 10s, compared with £30.381 10s last year. Divided Race. Copper Trail made an. exhibition of the first division of the Trial Handicap, and over the last furlong did not give the others a chance. His performance was an outstanding one for a three-year-old. _ When the field had settled down" Stimulant was in charge from Marvin’s Last, Copper Trail, Avon’s Pride, Lady Averil, and Sergeant Sally! The last named attempted to jump the crossing with a mile,to go and fell and interfered with Recast. With half a mile to go Copper Trail and Stimulant had drawn out four lengths clear of

Marvin’s Last, Avon’s Pride, and Lady Averil, with the others right out of it. Copper Trail soon had the measure of Stimulant in the run home and came right away to win by three lengths. Lady Averil was seven lengths back third, ahead of Avon's Pride (fourth), Marvin’s Last, and Loyal Chum. Lou Hall won the second division with a. lot to spare, after being in the firing line right through. Several horses failed to begin correctly, including Jolly Biddy, Master Mariner, Merton, and Redclitfe Direct. When

the field had settled down Victory Boy was showing the way to Sandy Grey, Lou Hall, Silk Dillon, and Dame Rumour, and they were well clear of the others. At the half mile Victory Boy and Lou Hall were two lengths clear of Silk Dillon and Sandy Grey, with a gap back to Dame Rumour, who had dropped right out. Sandy Grey' lost ground racing to the straight, where Lou Hall took charge, with Silk Dillon and Victory Boy the handiest of the others. Lou Hall came on to win without being challenged, and Silk Dillon beat Victory Boy just as easily. Sandy Grey was fourth, ahead of Grattan Lee and Dame llumour. Saddle Event.

Aherhall, favourite for the Novice Handicap, scored a runaway win. Aberhall and Lauder Girl were the smartest to begin, and at the end of a furlong Dalziell, Arawa Lad, and Master Robert were their closest attendants m strung-out order. Notus made up some ground racing down the back, and at the half-mile Aherhall took up the running from - Lauder Girl, with Dalziell, Master Robert, and Haste handiest of the others. Aherhall was first into the straight and he came right away to win comfortably by five lengths from Lauder Girl, who stayed on to beat Haste by three lengths. Notus was fourth, ahead of Master Robert and Royal Victory. • Narrow Margin.

There was a good finish in the Murihiku Handicap, when Mistydale stayed on long enough to beat the favourite, Kildonnin, by a head, with Logan !Max half a head away third. Several of the runners failed to begin correctly, and when the field settled down Mistydale, Idle Lass, White Damp, Voco Power, and Pukatee were the leaders. AVhite Damp broke with a round to go, and Mistydale took up the running from Idle Lass, White Damp, Voco Power, Kildonnin, Pukatee, Dalaruan, and Logan Max. There was little change ’in the order racing into the back, but at the half-mile Logan Max had raced into second place behind Mistydale, and Kildonnin ran into third place. Logan Max joined Mistydale at the home turn, and they led into the straight from Kildonnin, Pukatee, Idle Lass, and Dalaruan, who put in a run round the field. In a good race home, Mistydale stayed on to secure a narrow verdict from Kildonnin and Logan Max. Special Bond, who came with a great late run, was fourth, ahead of Pukatee, Dalaruan. and Voco Power. Elaine Travis monopolised 'the betting in the Jellicoe Haudicap, and she won without being driven out. Frances Logan, Understudy, and Van Horn were the leaders, out at the end of a quarter Jack Bond had raced into second place behind Francis Logan, and Elaine Travis, after being slow away, moved into third place with a mile to go. Racing into the back, Elaine Travis had taken charge from Jack Bond; sGrelba, Francis Logan, Understudy, and Van Horn, with a gap back to Elation. Jack Bond began to drop out at the half-mile, where Elain Travis was clear of Grelba and Understudy, who moved up smartly, and Van Horn headed the others. Elaine Travis was first into the straight from Grelba, Understudy, Van Horn, and Francis Logan. Elain Travis came on to win comfortably by four lengths from Grelba, who beat Van Horn by a neck for third. Understudy (fourth) and Francis Logan were right up next, ahead of Elation. Meritorious Performance.

Monagh Leagh put up a meritorious Serformance to win the Southland Hanicap after losing a lot of ground at the start Turi Queen was smartest away, and at the end of a furlong she was clear of Master Potts and Logan Rey, with Princess Maritza two lengths further- back, ahead of Monagh Leagh and Indian Wrack. Turi Queen increased her lead to two lengths at the half-mile, and, apart from Monagh Leagh moving into fourth place, there was no other change in the order. Monagh Leagh took charge with half a mile to go, where Turi Queen was in second place and Indian Wrack made up some ground on the outer to take third place. Monagh Leagh was- first into the straight from Indian Wrack, Turi Queen, and Logan Rey, who had put in a good run from the half-mile. Monagh Leagh stayed on too well for Indian Wrack, who went to a tangle 100 yards from the post, and then settled down again. Turi Queen beat Logan Rey, who went into a break in the straight, for third, and the next to finish were Royal Fortune and Master Potts.

Runaway Win. Voco Power scored a runaway win in the Waikitvi Handicap to return a win dividend of nearly two score. Voco Power took up the running at the end of half a mile, where Kildonnin, Pukatee, Glamour Girl, and White Damp were handy, and Freckles headed the others. Sure Harvest, who was slow to begin, made up some ground, and with a mile-to go he was in fourth" place behind Voco Power, still eight lengths clear of Pukatee and Kildonnin, Glamour Girl being at the head of the others. Voco Power increased his lead to 12 lengths at the half-mile, where Kildonnin, Pukatee, Sure Harvest, and Logan Max were handiest. Voco Power came on to win comfortably by 12 lengths from Kildonnin, who beat Pukatee by two lengths for. third. Logan Max was fourth, ahead of Sure Harvest, Freckles, and Worthy Addition.

Finished On Solidly. Frewyn finished too solidly for Cumnock in the Visitors’ Handicap, and got up, to beat him by two lengths, with Lord Nelson right up in third place. When the field had settled down Loyal Nelson and Frewyn were the first to show out, and with a round to go Major Grattan had taken up the running from Frewyn, Cumnock, Lord Nelson, and Grattan Bells. Loyal Nelson was in charge racing into the back, and at the half he was joined by Curnnodk, with Frewyn, Major Grattan, and Grattan Bells handy. In a good race home Frewyn finished too well for Cumnock after the last-named had beaten off Loyal Nelson, who stayed on for third ahead of Grattan Bells, with Sure Voyage and Volo Bond next. Upset in Last Race.

There was an upset in the Au Revoir Handicap, in which the favourites were well out of it. Scatterbrain failed to go way at all, while Turi Queen went off at a tangle and lost some 'ground. Happy King was the smartest out, and with a mile to go he was closely attended by Loyal Winner, Bonnie Sandy, Turi Queen, and Princess Maritza. There was little change in the order racing down the back, where Turi Queen moved into fourth place and Princess Maritza went to a tangle. Happv King and Bonnid Sandy were first into the straight from Turi Queen,

who was under a hard drive, Princess Maritza, and Loyal Winner, in a good race home Bonnie Sandy stayed on a little better than Happy King and bent him by three-quarters of a length. Turi Queen, who finished on again, was a length away third, with Princess Maritza (fourth), Coherto, and Logan lley next to finish.
