GIRLS ON PARADE
MARCHING CHAMPIONSHIPS (P.A.) WANGANUI. Feb. 25. A crowd of 8,000 attended the New Zealand girls’ inarching championships, which were held last night in ideal weather conditions. The marching championship was won bj' Hawera Technical School Old Girls, with South Canterbury second and Troubadours (Wanganui) third and McKenzies (Wanganui) fourth. Miss N, Guthrie, of McGruer’s (Wanganui),.was the cliahipion leader, Wellington Woollen Mills headed the points list for cottunies. The aggregate in points for marching, leader, and costumes _ was won by South' Canterbury, with McKenzies (Wanganui) second and Troubadours (Wanganui) third. At a subsequent meeting it was decided to form a Now Zealand .Girls’ Marching and Recreation Association, with headquarters at Wellington. The next championship meeting will be allotted to Timaru.
