MUNICIPAL NEEDS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —The purpose of my first letter was to point out the ill-considered statements and impossible suggestions advanced by our City Fathers at the council table. ‘I have to admit I was in error in attributing a statement made by Cr Connolly to Or Ireland. This statement drew a vitriolic reply from Cr Ireland, wherein he, in parliamentary (?)-couneil (?) language, calls-me a liar, reflects on my sanity, and generally writes in a manner most unusual to correspondents. Cr Ireland would appear to have been in a very excitable state of mind. In the previous letter I also suggested Cr Ireland take a bath in one of the pot holes of the tram tracks. I made the suggestion so that ‘he could see for himself the condition of the tracks and accept his share of responsibility for their condition. ' I still am of the opinion that the idea of a monthly trip round the city by our City _ Fathers is a good one; also the meditation idea, which would improve the suggestions and wild statements put forward at the council table, and the tone olf councillors’ replies to correspondence.—l am. etc., February 23. Six Score,
