CRITICAL SITUATION
POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC VIEWPOINTS (Rec. 10.10 a.m.) RUGBY, N0v..8.. Speaking at Cairo on his recent visit, to Greece Lord Moyne said he found the situation there most, critical both from the political and economic points of view. The Greek Government had succeeded, in spite of Eam's demonstrations in remaining in office, and M. Papandreou was consolidating his position before holding the elections. As Earn continued to support the present Cabinet its position was secure. It was expected that the plebiscite to decide the return of the King would'be held in about four months time.
Lord Moyne said_ that from the economic point of view the situation was disastrous. Inflation was even worse than after the defeat of Germany n the last war. British military administration pound notes were worth one billion drachmro and a gold sovereign, was worth eight billions.
