Mr P....G. Connolly, M.P., left this morning for'Wellington. The Hon M. Connelly, M.L.C., was a passenger for Wellington by the express this morning.
Mrs Dora Smeaton has received cabled advice from Canada thai her son, L.A.C. R. J. Smeaton, has obtained his " wings" and has been granted a commission. Advice has been received by cable of the death of Miss Jean Boot, in London, at tho age of 85. For some years Miss Boot, better known as Sister Jean, was on the staff of the" Dunedin Methodist Central Mission as a voluntary deaconess, and rendered .valuable service and contributed generously to the mission activities in this city. Miss Root was a sister of the late Lord Trent, and while in Dunedin resided at Anderson's Bay. Many friends will remember her, and her death will he regretted by a wide circle of mission folk and citizens generally. On the guest list at the Excelsior Hotel are Mr J. Adamsf Mr and Mrs H.
