VARIETY CONCERT
EFFORT FGR MAORI GIRLS' COLLEGE The funds- of the Maori Girls' College should benefit substantially from the proceeds of a bright variety entertainment and community sing presented before a capacity audience at the Concert Chamber on Saturday night. Maori songs and poi dances by Mrs Quini Parala's party were a feature of the programme, and tile community sing led by Messrs R. McKenzio and Ray Marshall was most popular with the audience. Appreciation to all who had assisted in presenting the programme was expressed by Mrs A. Leary, president of the local association of the Maori Girls' Collego. The programme was as follows:—Songs, ' I Hear You Calling Me ' and ' Ay, ay, ay,' Mr Ray Marshall; vocal duets, ' Isa Lei' and ' Dreamy Hawaii,' Mesdames Noni Masters and Av'as McFarlane (accompanied by Coulter's Hawaiian Band) ; song, ' May I Not Love?' (sung in Maori), Miss Mori Ellison; vocal duets, 'I Ya Ya Ya,' ' Bullfrog,' and ' Cheerio,' Miss Bertha Rawlinson and Mr Arthur Robertson; songs, "A Song for You and Me ' and 'Love Will Find a Way.' Mrs Avas McFarlane; character items, Master Billy Chambers; songs, 'Dream of Delijjht' and ' Farewell to Dreams,' Mrs Noni Masters; whistling solos, ' Rendezvous ' (with violin accompaniment) and 'Maori Battalion,' Miss Fay Heasley; character items, Miss Rita Cook; songs, ' The_ Ser-geant-major ' and ' March of the Kiwis,' Mr Harold Davidson; recitation; Miss Audrey Geary; exhibition of double poi. Miss C. Wixon. The accompanists were Mesdames Parata, Masters, and McFarlane, and Miss Rawlinson. In addition to tho door takings, donations were received from Mr Arthur Barnett, Messrs W. Duke and Sons, " Grateful Listener," and " Margaret."
