WAR PRODUCTION EXPANDING
NEW YORK, July 12. Tokio official radio announced that the Government had suspended all publications of the two leading Japanese publishing houses, Chuo Korou and the Kaizo Company, because the " editorial policies are incompatible Avith the proper guidance of public thought in wartime."
The Government urged the puiblio to subscribe to Avar casualty _ insurance soon, in view of the recent air raids on Japan. In spite of setbacks during the past year, Japan is still expanding her munitions production, according to information reaching foreign trade experts, reports the ' New York Times ' Washington correspondent. Japanese aircraft, ship, tank, and artillery output has increased steadily in 1943 and 1944. However, the expansion Avas achieved at the expense of the civilian population, which.has been reduced to the barest subsistence level and is suffering from shortages of food, clothing, and fuel.
