RONGOTAI AIRPORT
BIG EXTENSION SCHEIE (P.A.) WELLINGTON, July 13. The first step in the plans to make' Rongotai airport the hub of New Zealand's internal air lines and give it an important place in overseas feeder lines was taken by the Wellington City Council last night. It decided to give notice of its intention -to take the Miramar golf links, strips of land in front of Kongotaii College, and some intersecting streets. The chairman of the Airport Committee, Cr B. J. Todd, emphasised that there would be no movement of homes without Government consent.
Arrangements were made for tho city engineer to report to the Wellington Harbour Board and Wellington Chamber of Commerce on the proposed developments, so that those bodies could join with the City Council in a joint deputation to the Government.
