TOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the ■J- ■* Port Chalmers Borough Council, pursuant to the powers vested in it by "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933," and all other powers enabling it in that behalf, will, at a Meeting of the Council to be held in the Council Chambers Beach street, Port Chalmers, on THURSDAY, 20th day of July, 1944, MAKE AND LEVY THE FOLLOWING RATES AND FEES for the period commencing on the Ist day of April, 1944, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1945: 1. A GENERAL RATE under Section 77 of " The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933," of TWO SHILLINGS AND SIXPENCE (2s 6d) in the Pound (£) upon the value of the rateable property as appearing on the Valuation Roll for the time being in force in the Borough of Port Chalmers. 2. A SEPARATE RATE to bo known as the LIGHTING RATE under Section 89 of " The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933," of THREEPENCE (3d) in the Pound (£) upon the value of the rateable property as appearing on the Valuation Roll for the time being in force in the Borough of Port Chalmers. 3. A SEPARATE RATE to be known as the HOSPITAL RATE under Section 52 of " The Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926," of SIXPENCE (6d) in the Pound (£) upon the value of the rateable property as appearing on the Valuation Roll for the time being in force in the Borough of Port Chalmers. 4. WATER RATES, under Section 82 of " The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933," as follows: — Upon all lands and buildings to which water -is supplied, the rateable value of which on the Valuation • Roll docs not exceed £l2 10s, a rate of TEN SHILLINGS (10s); exceeds £l2 10s, a rate of FIVE PER CENT, (or one shilling in the £) on such value. Upon all lands and buildings to which water can be but is not supplied situate within one hundred yards of any part of the waterworks. And Upon all buildings used as stores or warehouses or for any purpose other than as a dwelling house, a rate of ONEHALF of the rates abovementioned. 5. A SPECIAL RATE under the authority of " The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926, ' of ONE PENNY (Id) in the Pound (£) upon the value of the rateable property as appearing on the Valuation Roll for the time being in force in the Borough of Port Chalmers, levied for the purpose of meeting the interest and other charges on the " Mussel Bay Drainage aud Seweragu Loan, 1934." 6. A SPECIAL RATE under the authority of " The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926." of ONE HALF-PENNY (id) in the Pound (£) upon the value of the rateable property as appearing on the Valuation Roll for the time being in force in the Borough of Port Chalmers, levied for the purpose of meeting: interest and other charges on the " Mussel Bay Drainage and Sewer. age Loan. 1938." 7. A SPECIAL RATE under the authority of " The Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926," of TWOPENCE HALF-PENNY (2£d) in the Pound (£) upon the value of the rateable property as appearing on the Valuation Roll for the time being in force in tlio Borough of Port Chalmers, levied for the purpose of meeting interest and other charges on " The Waterworks Loan, 1938," savo and except that the said Rate shall not be levied on any property situate within the non-reticulated area of the. Borough known as the Townships of Mansford and Reynolds. 8. A SANITATION FEE under Section 90 of " The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933," of THIRTY SHILLINGS (30s) per pan for the removal' of nightsoil from promises within the Borough to which such service is given. 9 EXTRAORDINARY WATER SUPPLY under Section 82 of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1933," for premises having Hush-down W.C.s (other than hotels and those who pav a special water supply charge for same) a fee of ONE POUND (£1) for each W.C. The above RATES AND FEES ARE PAYABLE IN ONE SUM in each case on the Ist day of August, 1944, at the. Office of the Town Clerk, Beach street, Port Chalmers, and an ADDITIONAL CHARGE OF TEN PER CENT., provided under Section 76 of " The Rating Act, 1925,", WILL BE IMPOSED ON ALL SUCH RATES AND FEES WHICH SHALL REMAIN UNPAID after the 15th day of February, 1945. And Notice is Hereby Further Given that the VALUATION ROLL AND RATE BOOK ARE OPEN FOR INSPECTION by all persons concerned at the Town Clerk's Office, Beach street, Port Chalmers, during office hours. 8 C.
