TWO OFFENSIVES

Allied Progress In Normandy Satisfactory Advances On All Sectors (Eeceived 11.45 a.m.) BUGBY, July 11. Advances on all parts of the Normandy front are reported from Allied Supreme Headquarters. Near Caen the Canadians have advanced to the west bank of the Orne and captured Louvigny, two miles south-west of Caen. They have consolidated their positions in this area, where the line extends to the woods north-east of Meltot. East of Caen Allied troops have also made a satisfactory advance. At Colombelles, three miles north-east of Caen, they have pushed along east of the Orne about one mile. Prom there the line runs to the wood at Saint Hbngrine, four miles north-east of Caen. South-west of Caen the British threw back repeated counter-attacks on Hill 112, near Esquay. They retain possession of this height with the road junction to the north-east and Etriville. Between Onchy and Hottot our troops advanced about half a mile on a two-mile front south-west of Tilly. In the Carentan area United States forces have widened their positions, and are now one mile west of St. Eny. They have also pushed south to capture La Maugerie and La Roserie, four miles north-east of Priers. They also took Haut Verny and Le Mesnii Angout. .Patrols pushed on to Tribehou, which was found strongly held by the enemy. The United States forces made a further advance south of La Haye along theLessay road, and captured Mobesqu, one mile and a-half south-east of La Haye. All the high ground of the Foret de Montcastre is in the hands of the American troops.
