DALMORE HOUSEHOLDERS
QUARTERLY GENERAL MEETING | There was a good attendance at the quarterly general meeting of the DalmorePine Hill Districts Ratepayers and Householders' Association last evening, Mr J. T. Faulds, president, in the chair. , The town clerk advised that the association's request for an early morning bus from Liberton had been referred to the transport manager for a report. Mr S.' W. Bush wrote asking the association to approach the City Council to provide improvements in lighting in Pryde street, near Barclay street. It was agreed to support the request. Members spoke on the need for a shopping bus from Liberton on Friday mornings. The secretary pointed out that it would be difficult to secure any extra buses except for a strong reason, and he was instructed to ascertain the loading on the 8.45 p.m. Friday bus to Dalmore. which some members said was not well patronised, with a view to its exchange for a morning bus on Fridays, and to report to the next meeting' of the. association Mr J. Rhodes brought up the matter of the proposed new entrance to Pine Hill from the George street bridge. At present, he said, the beech trees planted on the slope at the side of the path to Pine Hill road were doing exceptionally well, and the filling which had been dumped at the, top of the path was an eyesore. If Uw City Council intended to make a new road, the work should not be allowed to extend over five, 10, or 20 years as a convenient dump for spoil. Members supported Mr Rhodes's remarks, and it was agreed to ask the City Council to expedite the work. As a mark of appreciation for the free use of the Presbyterian Church Hall, which had been placed at the disposal of th« association for meetings, it was agreed to give the sum of £2 2s to the funds of I the church.
