Damages for retention 'of the goods'., (£1). were/ also claimed.!"''... :'<.'.. •<••.' ... - ■ Mr Haggitt said that the couple had been married 17 years, and following a disagreement, the defendant left after stripping, the house of everything; while her husband was at work. Plaintiff was willing-to-allow,his wife to retain all but certain furniture taken from the drawing room, and the defendant had offered to return some of these, but'not those of which the return .is claimed. -••■.■'••. . , . Plaintiff, in evidence, said that tne articles mentioned in the statement of claim were his property. '■ Defendant contended 'that most oi the articles had been'paid for by her. The- piano and some other articles, however, had been taken away by the carrier by mistake. The Magistrate referred to the conflict of evidence in the case and adjourned tiie matter for a week to enable certain of the'articles to be returned to plaintiff.
