SOCCER
SATURDAY'S GAMES
Games in the Otago Football Association's competition on Saturday resulted as follows :—Mosgiel 5, Old Boys 3; Northern 2, Mornington 0; Roslyn-Wakari 5, Caversham 0; Maori Hill 7, Air Force 7. High scoring for a Soccer match was seen in the game between Maori Hill and Air Force at Prospect Park, each side scoring 7 goals. The strong wind made the wet ball difficult to control, but an interesting and even game resulted. Each side tried hard towards the end to gain a winning goal, but time was called with the scores even. Mr W. P. Smith was the referee. At Queen's Park, where Mosgiel met Old Boys, the strong wind proved troublesome, but a well-contested game was seen, with the scores always close. Old Boys led during most of the match, but Mosgiel came out winners by 5 goals to 3. Steven (2), McCloy, and Davidson were the scorers for Mosgiel, and McMillan added another by placing through his own goal. The scorers for Old Boys were Phillips, Butterfield, and Mitchener. Mr D. Rutherford was the referee. A fast and well-contested game was played at the Oval between Northern and Mornington, a fair number of spectators watching the play. Both sides showed up well on defence, but failed to finish off efforts in front of the goal. Dickison, who played well as goalie for Mornington, was unfortunate in throwing the ball through his own goal after having made a brilliant save. Jorindis scored Northern's other goal with a fast shot from close range. The match ended with Northern 2 goals to 0. Mr D. Cook was the referee. Roslyn-Wakari and Caversham met at Ellis Park* the hill team proving too elusive in front of the goal for the opposing side. The game ended: Roslyn-Wakari 5, Caversham 0. Mr J. Welsh was the referee.
