RUMANIA'S ONLY BIG AIRCRAFT PLANT DESTROYED
(Reo. 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, May 7. Correspondents' • despatches from Italy say that the Liberators and Fortresses- attacking Bucharest. to-day bombed the main railway yards. The crews reported many hits, with fires and explosions. The'R.A.F. Hallfaxes and Wellingtons which, bomibed Bucharest last night concentrated against the factory area in the south-western part of the city. ■ Correspondents state that the aircraft factory at Brasov is the only major aircraft plant in Rumania, and the only one capable of turning out aircraft suitable for the Luftwaffe. It was left burning aiter the Allied attartk yesterday. Three of the four main buildings were hit, and one was destroyed. The oil tanks nearby were also set on fire.
