WAITATI SHOW

FINE DISPLAY OF CATTLE The seventy-fifth annual show of the Blueskin Agricultural and Pastoral Society,, held at Waitati on Saturday under ideal conditions, was one of the most successful for some years. Though regarded as one of the smallest on the summer schedule, the show attracted exhibits of stock from over a wide area, the-farms on the north line being particularly well represented. In the cattle section the entries' were the best on record,' and many of the exhibits would have been a credit to any show in the province. There was outstanding quality among the Jerseys, the championships in this class being won by James Powell Rest Home (cow) and Mr H. McCaughan (bull). Several awards were also won by Mr G. Cassie. The Ayrshire breed was also strongly represented. The champion ribbons went to Mr W. Don (bull) and* Mr T. O'Connell (cow), while Mr G. Reid secured a number of class awards. In the Priesian section Mr J. Sargison was''the only exhibitor, and, with Mr H. McCaughan, he was also prominent in the awards in the cross-bred cattle section.

There was good competition in the horse sections. Although the number of young animals was disappointing, the draughts were a good, even lot. Mr G. T. McCaflum was the most consistently successful competitor in this sectionj and secured the award for' the champion, mare with his Princess Rowena, a Due representative of, the Clydesdale breed. Mr A. J. Payne and Messrs Fraser Bros, were also prominent in prize lists, and Messrs T. O'Connell, W. Fox, and H. Flett secured awards in the classes, for lighter farm horses. - la the hackney classes the championship award went to an entry by Miss R.; Ireland. In the competitions Mr W.
