SPORTS AT WAITATI
A successful sports meeting and carnival was held at Bland Park, Waitati, during the holidays. The weather was fine, and a crowd of over 600 attended the meeting. A reception in the form of a morning tea was held, at which the judges and prominent, citizens associated with the different; soceities in the district met Mr P. Neilson, M.P., who opened the function. Mrs A. Stevens represented the Paitrents and Prisoners' Aid Society. The children present were specially catered for, each child receiving a toy. Items by two pipers, songs by a group of local girls, and an exhibition of Highland dancing by Miss Bath Tate, of Wellington, added interest and variety to the proceedings. The results of the phncipa.l events were as follows:

Mazurka Championship (judge, Mr George Read).—Miss Hazel Heather and Mr Ken Atiguson and Miss Elsie McCon nachie and Mr Charlie Robinson 1 (equal). In- the evening a picture party and an extended dance were held.
