UNDER DRASTIC CONTROL NEW YORK, January 8. The Buenos Aires Socialist newspaper ' La Vanguardia ' announced that it is voluntarily ceasing publication because the Government decree imposing drastic. control over the Press has rendered impossible the performance of its social duty. It added that the dissolution of political parties, and also the imposition of Roman Catholic dogma on the schools and people and the regulation of the Press, radio, and cinemas would definitely create an atmosphere in which a newspaper desiring to uphold the truth could not live. . , ■. ' " ' ' The Buenos Aires correspondent or the ' New. York-Times.' says the Argentine Press is thoroughly cowed after seven months of military dictatorship, but to their honour both of the greatest Buenos Aires democratic dailies. ' La Xacion' and 'La Prensa,' published editorials stating that they, intend to continue as hitherto, printing news as truthfully as possible, and commenting thereon as dispassionately as they can.
