Dr R. Lawson left last night on a holiday visit to Nelson. The Very Rev. Father L. R. Evatt,. S.M., 8.A., has been appointed rector of St. Patrick's Collego at Silverstreara, in succession to the Very Rev. Father Kennedy, who will shortly take charge of St, John's College at Lismore, New South W 7 ales. The new rector, who was born in. Wellington, is a son of Lieu-tenant-colonel R. L. 'Evatt. He is at pi-esent on the staff of the Silverstreara College.
Advice has been received that Private^. James P. Haig, of Law who was a prisoner of war in Camp 78, in Italy, - has been transferred to Germany.' - A Press Association cable message from Washington states, that the New Zealand Legation announced to-day that Mr Walter Nash arrived in the United States. The forced down his plane at Nashville, Tennessee, while en route to Washington.
Advice has been received by Mrs J. M. Craig, George street, Port that her son. Gunner James A. Craig, who' was a prisoner of war ■ 'in Italv. has been transferred to Stalag IV.D. Germany. A British Official Wireless message from Rugby states that the King has • approved the extension of the "term of office of Lord Wakehurstas Governor of New South Wales for a further period of 12 months.
