CROQUET CHAMPIONSHIPS
. STRONG WIND EFFECTS PLAY Because of the strong winds at both the Watea and Leith. lawns, games this morning in the South Island croquet championship, which entered the fourth day of play, were unusually protracted, matches begun at 9 o'clock still being in progress this afternoon owing to, the difficulty in getting into, position for hoop play. The lawns themselves were again in first-rate order, the rain which fell over the week-end and this morning slowing up the (balls a Jot, but not interfering with accuracy. Results available this afternoon are as follows:—
—Ladies' Championship Singles.—
Mrs Milliu (Punga) 26, Mrs Whitfield (Christchurch) 15. —Levels Singles.—
Mrs Henry (Watea) 26, Mrs Sewoll (St. Clair) 22. This game was continued from Saturday afternoon, Mrs Munro (Leith) 26, Mrs Bonar (Christchurch) 23. —Handicap Singles.—
