—Air Passengers.— Passengers from the north yesterday afternoon were:—Mr T. J. Virtue, Mr A. Daisley, Mr and Mrs S. Sherriits, Miss E. Greer (from Auckland), Mrs T. Reed, Miss J. Mack, Mr J. D. Haigh, Mr A. W. Tucker (from Wellington). N Passengers northbound to-day were: —Mr I. W. Keller, Matron M. Hennessey, Mr and Mrs J. Taylor, Miss D. B. Hooper (for Wellington),.L.A.C. R. A. Moore, Mrs H. B. Seelye, Mr and Mrs J'. Y. Armstrong (for AucKlandV. Mr H. F. Larsen, of the Department of Industries and Commerce, will leave this week on temporary transfer to Christchurch. During Mr Larsen'sabsence from Dunedin his place will be taken by Mr J. M. Bremner. Advice has been received that Private Lance Drummond, of Dunedin, who has been a prisoner of war in Italy for the ipast two years, has been, transferred to Stalag 88, Germany. Mr A. E. Davenport, resident electrical engineer of the Works Depart-, ment, Greymouth, has received advice" of his transfer on promotion to the position of district electrical engineer, Auckland. Mr Davenport will be replaced at Greymouth by Mr E. E. James, of Christchurch. Mr and Mrs H. F. Mackenzie, of 5 Brook street, have received advice that their son, Second-lieutenant Colin Maxwell Mackenzie, has been wounded in Italy. The Union Steam Ship Company has received cabled advice from London that Captain W. W. Hender has'been appointed an officer of the. Order of the British Empire (0.8. E.) ! for meritorious sea service. Since the beginning of the war Captain Hender has been in charge of a foreign-going ship running under the company's auspices in. various parts of the world under requisition to the British Minister of' War Transport. He was born at Stafford, England, on November 27, 1879, and went to sea in sail as a youth or 15. Ten years later he joined the service of the Union Steam Ship Company as second officer, receiving his first appointment as master in 1912. ■ Since that date he has commanded some 23 ships of the company, and is well known in New Zealand, though it .is a few years since he visited this country.
