In an interview with the ' Star' this morning, the Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister of Labour and Mines, said that on a visit to Central Otago he had been very disappointed with the apparent lack of interest being taken in the stocking of the rivers and streams with fish. Inquiries showed that a hatchery at Wanaka bad been out of use for four years. This hatchery ! was previously carried on by a committee with unemployed labour. In the north, particularly in the Rotorua district, a deep interest was being taken in the stocking of the rivers with food and fry. If the rivers here were similarly stocked they would offer very fine fishing in a climate that had few equals.
