NATIONAL COUNCIL OF WOMEN
The October meeting of the Dunedhv branch of the National. Council of Women was :presided over by Miss H. K. LovellSmith. In connection with the health stamp campaign Miss Standage spoke of the street day appeal to be held on October 29 and of the need for helpers that day.' A letter was received from Mrs Havelaar, the,Dominion president, asking the National Council of Women to collect clothing without delay for the women of Greece, to be in readiness as soon as a shipment can go. Mrs Fairbairn reported on the women's franchise jubilee celebrations recently held in Dunedin, the thanksgiving service on Sunday, September 19, and the conversazione on the Monday, both being most enjoyable funotions. In reporting on the financial eide of the celebrations, Mrs Cameron said she would be glad of donations from societies who have not yet contributed. The President reported that the Hastings branch of the National Council of Women had asked for and been granted permission to use the pageant which was specially written for the Dunedin celebrations.
At'the Dominion conference of the National Couucil of Women held in Wellington in September the Dunedin branch extended an invitation for conference to meet here in October, 1944.
