(Own Correspondent.) Statistics.—Balclutha: Vital statistics fcr July—Births 17 (1942, 10), deaths 3 (7), marriages 4 (3); rainfall .96in (1.82 in). Milton: Births 6 (o), deaths 6 (4); marriages 2 (2); rainfall lin (2.29 in), Obituary.—Mr William Hallahan, who died at Tokoiti last week, was born in County Waterford, Ireland, 72 years ago, and after engaging in farming pursuits for some years came to New Zealand about 39 years gc. He first worked at Hawna Flat, and about 35 years ago came lo Tokoiti, Milton. He was a good judge of stock, and his opinion was valued in this respect. He married Miss Anne Kcrin, of Hawoa Flat, 24 years ago, and she survives him, together with, one son, John, who is at home. Welcome Home.—Milton-Bruce R.S.A. extended a welcome to returned men and those on furlough of the 2ud N.Z.E.Fi on Saturday night. The function took the form of a dinner in the Masonic Hall, and Mr C. Keinan presided over an attendance of about 80, including quite a number of 2nd N.Z.E.F. men. An enjoyable time was spent with toasts, interspersed with items of a varied nature. Bowling.—Mr T. Crook presided at the annual meeting of Kait-wigata Bowling Club, and before proceeding to business, members stood ps a mark of resnect to the memory of Mr John (V'-'re, who had passed away wile holding She position of president.
