HOME GUARD NOTES

A voluntary parade of the Flagstaff Battalion has been called for July 25. The purpose of the parade is for defence work on the secUr, and the CO. hopes that as many as possible will attend in order to complete the job. All companies will parade at their respective headquarters at 0900 hours. Transport and rations will be provided: The battalion store at the Drill Hall is opeu every day and on Tuesday evenings for Lhe return of rifles and bayonets it it is inconvenient for members to'hand them in at company headquarters. Vital points guards will parade at 7.30 on Tuesday, July 20, to hand in equipment and rifles. B and C Company headquarters will be open on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings of next week from 1900 hours for {he return of rifles and bayonets. B Company will also be required to return equipment. C Company of Cargill Battalion will parade on Tuesday next at 1915 hours at the North-east Valley Town Hall. All ranks who were issued with web equipment, rifles, and rifle stings are to hand them in to'.the company store at this parade. Anyone not able to attend must return all above-men-tioned items to ilie battalion store, Kensington Driil Hall, at the earliest possible opportunity. At this parade a boot allowance will be paid to all ranks who have completed 12 months' training or more. The C.Q.M.S. and his staff wi.l parade in uniform; all others will parade in mufti. Approximately 100 members of the company attended the parade on Tuesday last to see the film, ' Shoot to Kill.' The CO. and his staff were also present. Very valuable lessons were lucidly presented, and all ranks appreciated them to the full. The members of the Vital Points Guards Platoon are notified by'routine orders of the new name for the platoon, " Tunnels Guard Platoon." Ju'v narades are cancelled, and notice will- be given of any further parades. . ~
