BOMBING RAID ®N PEUGEOT WORKS ANOTHER BLOW TO GERMAN WAR EFFORT (Rec. 8 a.m.) LONDON, July 16. Bomber Command Halifaxes .last night attacked the Peugeot motor works at Montbeliard, 10 miles south of Bel : fort. The weather was clear, and preliminary reports indicate that the attack was concentrated and effective. The Peugeot works specialise in making two-ton trucks, and employ about 10TO0O. They turn out between 6,000 and 8.000 trucks yearly. The output is second only to the Renault works. Following heavy damage to the Renault works, the Peugeot plant became even more important to the German war effort , . , Lancasters attacked electric transformer and. switching stations in Northern Italv. Intruders attacked airfields and railway targets in France, Germany, and the Low Countries. Seven of our bombers are missing.
