GENERAL PATTON'S ORDER OF THE DAY
(Rec 10.30 a.m.) RUGBY, July 16. General Patton's order of the day tq United States troops just before they landed in Sicily said: When you land you will meet German and Italian soldiers whom it is our honour and privilege to attack and destroy. Many of you have in your veins German and Italian blood, but. remember that these ancestors of yours 60 loved freedom that they gave up. their home and country to cross the ocean in search of liberty. The ancestors of the people we shall kill lacked the courage to make such a sacrifice, and continued to be slaves. We, as the attackers, have the initiative. We must retain this tremendous advantage and keep punching. , God is with ' ns, and' we shall win.
