MARTINIQUE SETTLEMENT
FULL RESOURCES ALIGNED AGAINST AXIS (Rec. 8 a.m.) WASHINGTON, July 14. The State Department announced that M. Henri Hoppenot, who is succeeding Admiral Robert in the control of Martinique, and his assistants, expect to arrive there inthe near future. As soon as he has officially assumed authority the United States will resume relations with Martinique. M. Hoppenot assured the United States Government that the resources of the French Antilles will be fully mobilised for the prosecution of the war against the Axis, and that all French warships and merchantmen will be made available for the Avar effort.
