PREMIER THANKS HOME DEFENCE UNITS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, 'J uly 14. .' Now that the demobilisation of a fur. ther proportion of home defence units is in' progress, the P.rime Minister said to-day that he would like to take the opportunity of expressing' publicly, ou. behalf of the Government and the War Caibinet, their deep appreciation of tueservices of the Territorials during the period of the country's danger. " I would like particularly to thank the older men who in almost all cases were called upon to_ make real and heavy sacrifices in their own affairs, but who did not hesitat" to put the country first," he said. " Their effort greatly assisted towards the release of younger men for service overseas, and enabled the military authorities to lay the foundation of a sound home defence system which can be brought back into being should occasion arise."
