BURNSIDE STOCK SALE
Ther.e was a goo<l yarding of fat cattle at, the weekly Burnside sale to-day, including a number of pens of prime quality. The bulk of the yarding was made up of medium sorts. The sale started under keen competition, with prices slightly ahead of those of last week, and this was maintained throughout, the average increase on all classes being 20s. Extra prime bullocks made up to £23 2s 6d; prime, £lB 17s 6d to £2O 12s 6d; medium, £l4 17s 6d to £l6 7s 6d; extra prime heifers, to £l7 2s 6d; prime, £lO 12s 6d to £l3 12s 6d; medium, £8 12s 6d to £9 17s 6d ; extra prime cows, to £ls 2s 6d; prime, £9 12s 6d to £ll 2s 6d; medium, £6 12s 6d to £8 7s 6d> Tn the fat sheep section there was again a lar"e yarding, comprised mostly of good quality. "Wethers were in larger numbers, and the sale opened with prices slightly under those of last week. This was maintained throughout most of tho sale, and
towards the end there was a further easing. Prime heavy wethers brought up to 44s 6d; prime, 37s 6d to 41s 6d; medium, 31s to 32s 6d; prime young ewes, to 35s 6d; prime, 30s to 333 6d; medium, 24s to 27s 6d. ' There was a very small entry of pigs, only 19 bac'oners being offered. These were in nothing like sufficient numbers for the trade, and consequently prices were high, best bacohers realising up to £7, While other descriptions niade from £6 to £6 10s. A small yarding of store pigs made from 18s to 20s. The offering' of store cattle was small, there being onlv throe or four pens. One pen of three' to four-year-old steers brought up io £l2 14s. Voalers were in great demand, and best descriptions made up to £lO ss, while prime vealers brought from £5 15s to £7.
