LONDON, April 16. The Tunisian campaign has reached a . less spectacular stage, with von Arnim’s and Rommel’s forces firmly holding prepared defensive positions generally based on ravines, gullies, ' and hills. But this is merely the calm before the storm for the Axis. The Morocco radio 'reports that the Eighth Army is ■ again massing for a new large-scale attack. The Vichy radio says Gene- . ral Anderson is bringing up considerable infantry reinforcements. The Rome radio states that powerful enemy reinforcements of ships • and war material continue to pour into North African ports. Our valiant soldiers are fighting the most powerful army in the world,” it states. Allied aircraft based in North Africa, the Middle East, and Malta are battering . Axis shipping ■bases, shipping, aerodromes and road, rail, and supply routes in Sardinia, Sicily, and Tunis. The Paris radio to-night reported that a battle .is raging in Tunisia for Mount Zaghouau, 20 miles north-west of Enfidaville, in the heart of Rommel’s line. AUCKLAND TROTS.
