MONTHLY MEETING The Otago Harbour Board held its first meeting for the year last night, Mr It. S. "Thompson' occupying the chair. ■ ' Leave of absence was granted to Mr H. S. Watson while engaged on military duties. The promotion of Captain 'J. W. Knox to master of the dredge Otakou was eonhnned, DREDGE CHARTERED. Tho Timaru Harbour Hoard advised that it had decided to charter the dredge Ota Icon for three months. LOANS REPAID. The treasurer (Mr J. Rentou) reported that two loans, totalling £75,000, which matured in London on January 1, were repaid on the due date. The next loan falling due is the £125,000 dredge loan, which matures in London on November 1. 1948. FINANCIAL. The treasurer reported that for December the total revenue amounted to £15,910. as against £22,898 for December, 1941. For the three mouths ended December 31 last, revenue totalled £37.334 (£45.379 in 1941) Expenditure for December, 1942. was £13,627. as against £17.456 for December 1941. The tiiree-monthlv figures were: £41,271 (1942) and £46,711 (1941). Returns for the, three months showed an excess of expenditure over revenue of £3.937. REPAIRS TO THE MOLE. The engineer (Mr McO Wilkie) reported that in the middle'of December stone was tipped on the mole after a lapse of seven and a-half years With the exception "of the replacement of worn or rusted rails only small repairs were needed to be done to the timber staging of the mole, a fact which testified to the excellent of the workmanship when the staging was constructed in'the years 1926, to 1929 In the subsequent seven working days 255yds of large stone were placed on the outer end of the mo!e
