Mr A. D. Wilson, of the National Fire Service, returned by air to-day to Wellington. Mr 11. Girling Butcher, Dominion Fire Controller, left last night on his return to Wellington. , Pour members of the Wellington District Law Society who have completed more than 50 years in the practice of their profession, have been honoured by a gathering of their colleagues. They are Messrs E. T. D. Bell, L. O. H. Tripp, E. F. Hadfield, and H. F. voa. Haast, all of whom have been presidents of the society. ' At the annual meeting of the Dunedin Cricket Club last night the president (Mr 11. C. Torrance) referred to the recent death of Mr B. Petrie, who bad been a very staunch member and had given valuable service as a player in junior grades and as an administrator. Expressions of regret and sympathy were shown in the customary manner.
