WOOLLEN WORKERS
INTERPRETATION OF AWARD The Court, of Arbitral ion has given its ruling in (he application made by the inspector of awards at Oamaru for an interpretation of a clause in-the woollen mills employees’ award. The court was asked whether a worker engaged in operating a hank scouring machine, Ity which woollen yarn is scoured, some before dyeing, and some subsequent to dyeing, is properly paid as an “ other adult male ” or should he be paid as a “ wool scourer ” or a “ hosiery scourer? ” The opinion of the court is that the worker concerned is neither a ( “ wool scourer ” nor a “ hosiery scourer ” within the meaning of the. danse of (he award. It follows, therefore, that he must come within the classification “ other adult males.”
