NEGLECT OF BLACK-OUT
FINAL WARNING (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH. March 5. The occupiers of business premises not complying with the black-out regulations are to be (prosecuted, and breaches by residential occtoipiers_ arc to be met by the disconnection of lighting. According to a statement issued, to-day, this is to be the policy of the E.P.S. officials in Christchurch. Dealing with the trial black-out held last month, the statement says: “ The ' reports of the wardens indicate that both in the business area of the city and the residential areas many occupiers were not making any satisfactory effort to comply with the requirements of the blaek-ouj regulations. The disconnection of lighting' installations in business premises would in many cases result in the innocent suffering with the guilty. It has, therefore, been decided in these cases that the offender should be prosecuted. In_ residential premises the objection to disconnection does not holdi and it has therefore been decided that the lighting installation should be disconnected for one week in the first instance and ono month for a second- offence.”
