TAIERI RIVER TRUST

The February meeting of the Taieri River Trust was held at Mosgiel, the commissioner (Mr H. W. Wilson) in the chair. The Chairman reported that arrangements had been completed for raising the embankment of portion of the main drain, in agreement with an undertaking previously given to ratepayers concerned. Cr Young reported that an agreement with the Taieri County Council in respect to the insertion of two 6ft culverts in the road at Dan Miller’s had been made. The contractors for the pump at Henley reported that owing to the war further delay had been occasioned in delivery.—The meeting instructed the clerk to urge an early delivery. The Public Works Minister advised that a subsidy of £3OO (£1 for £1) had been granted to enable the trust to operate its dragline excavator in Lee Creek meantime, and that the question of further assistance would be considered later. The Trust resolved that the imposition of the 10 per cent, penalty on unpaid rates be added on March 27.
