WAR SAVINGS
DUNEDIN’S £IO,OOO WEEK ' By special announcement elsewhere in this issue the public is asked the question: “Would you sooner pull your weight in Dunedin's £IO,OOO week or pull a Japanese rickshaw ?” That slalcuiciit is full of advice and common sense. The Pacific stination is more than a challenge to our armed strength. It is a test of the character of New Zealanders. It is the lest of the courage, endurance, and tiie spirit of sacrifice of a free country as opposed to despotism and dictatorship. Tin's week the call goes out for £IO,OOO to help keep New Zealand free. To put more than ever before into national savings accounts means more sacrifice. U means giving up personal pleasures; it means confining ourselves to nccc-sities; it means cutting out self-indul-gence. In a phrase, it means backing up, with every penny available, onr fighters. All who contribute largo or small amounts (o this week's £IO,OOO appeal are backingup ibe men and women on whom New Zealand's liberty depends.
