EGG PRICES INCREASE The Dunedin Kgs Marketing Committee, working in conjunction with the Internal Marketing Division and the Price Tribunal, has arranged for an increase in -wholesale egg prices, to bo operative from to-day, as follows Heavy, from Is 7d to Is Ski, standard, from Is 6d to Is 8d; medium, from Is 3d to Is sd; pullets', from Is 2d to Is 3d ; largo duck, from Is 6d to Is 8d; small duck, from Is 3d to Is sd. GOOES PERMITTED From to-day the following codes may be used for cablegrams to the United States of America and possessions:—Bentley’s Second Phrase (Bens.), Bentley's Complete Phrase (Bene.), A.B.C. Sixth Edition (ABC), Peterson’s Third Edition (Pet.), Acme Commodity and Phrase Code (ACME), New Standard Three-letter Code (Stanter), New Standard Half-word Code (Stanhaf), Bombard Shipping Code (Bomship), Lombard General Code (Lomgen). WELLINGTON GAS DIVIDEND The annual report of the directors of the Wellington Gas Company states that during the year a mile of new main was laid, 413 services were fixed, and there was capital expenditure for additional plant. After payment of the interim dividend of 3 per cent, on the ordinary shares and the year’s dividend on the • preference shares, and after provision for taxation and depreciation of plant, buildings, and machinery, the balance to the credit of profit and loss appropriation account amounts to £27,407, and it is recommended that a further dividend of 4 per cent, be paid, absorbing £11,152, and that the balance of £16,255 be carried forward. NATIONAL BANK The general manager of the National Bunk of New Zealand Limited announces the payment on January 27 of an interim dividend of 1£ per cent., less United Kingdom income tax at the rate of 6s 2fd in the £ in respect of the year ending March 31, 1942. The dividend will be payable in New Zealand at any branch of the National Bank of New Zealand Limited, at the rate of exchange for demand drafts on London current at date of dividend. This bank shows its capital and reserves as follows Subscribed capital, £6,000.000; paid-up capital, £2,000,000; reserve fund (invested in Government securities), £1,000.000; currency reserve (invested ip Government securities), £500,000; reserve liability of shareholders, £6,000,000; total, £9,500,000. In adidtion, there are undivided profits carried forward of £115,849. MINING NEWS GILLESPIE’S BEACH. The Gillespie’s Beach wash-up for the week ei\ding Saturday, January 24, was 490 z 15dwt for 132 hours, 16,124 cubic yards.
