GAS WARFARE
PREPARATIONS BY GERMANS LONDON, December 28. The Istanbul correspondent of the Associated Press says that Mr George Earle, the United States Minister in Sofia, has arrived en route to the United States. He said; “1 am afraid the Germans are preparing for the vise of poison gas on a big scale. Germany s fortunes are dec-lining, but- her death throes may be unprecedentedly violent.”
Air Earle reported that many Bulgarian soldiers on the former Yugoslav frontier have deserted and joined tho guerrillas in fighting the Germans. lie added that even the police guarding the United States Legation in Sofia were pro-Russian.
