Feeling reference was made to the death of Bro. id. W. Parsons by Per. Sec. Bro. A. G. Monk at Hie meeting of Loyal Albion Lodge, held on Thursday evening last. The lodge opened in mourning. An interesting letter was received from Bro. Major M. D. Harvey, who is convalescing in the Near East and making a good recovery from wounds received in Crete. The lodge will receive an official visit from sister lodges at its next meeting. Good organisation was apparent in the successful carrying out of all functions connected with the sixtieth birthday of Loyal Caversham Lodge, which opened with an “ at home ” evening in the lodge hall last Wednesday evening. N.G. Bro. S. Mowat presided and welcomed the guests. A programme was presented by Misses June I)onaldson and E. Valentine, Mrs Hall Masters, Mrs McFarlane, Master Billie Mason, Mr W. Cole, Bros. W. On the Saturday evening following the district meeting the lodge entertained delegates and lodge members at a smoke social, over which N.G. Bro. D. Mowat presided. A comprehensive toast list was negotiated, one of the main items being the toast of “ Pioneer Members.” bro. List, who had journeyed from Wellington purposely for mentioned that one original member survived and was at present living at Lawrence. He referred to Bro. R. Blackwood, who joined the night (ho lodge opened on September 27, 1881. A number of elderly members replied to the toast and were splendidly received. A notable member of the order among the visitors was P.P.G.M. Bro. W. Sullivan, now of Wellington. An average attendance greeted N.G. Bro. George Macdonald at the meeting of Loyal Valley on Monday evening. The principal business was the reception of the report of delegates to the district meeting. This was candid and comprehensive. In moving a vote of thanks to the delegates. Per. Sec. Bro. Palmer said that the report was one of the most thorough and interesting that had boon presented to the lodge. The lodge opened in mourning due to the passing ol} Bro. Mant. The District Executive attended: and officially introduced Prov. D.G.M. Bro, R. Hanrahan and Prov. Guardian Bro. T* Paucey. Delegates to the district meeting furnished their reports. A letter was received from P.G. Bro. J. Lyon, now in Egypt. This brother came through tha operations in Greece and Crete. Interesting items from letters written by P.G. Bro* Alex. Cook were also read to the meeting. Complimentary reference was made to tha fine hospitality extended to delegates by the Caversham Lodge. Bro. A. T. Williams acknowledged the toast on this lodge* behalf.
