FREE KINDERGARTEN ASSOCIATION
COUNCIL MEETING The monthly meeting of tho Dunedin Free Kindergarten Association was held on Thursday afternoon. Mrs It. A. Ewing presided over a good attendance of members the following being present:—Mosdames Camcran, Dykes, Gallaway, Glendining, Greig, Garret, Haggitt, Hanan, Halsted, Hudson, Jones, Paterson, Smeaton, C. V. Smith, and Misses Orbell, Scott, Ulrich, and Wright. The principal, Miss A. J. Duthie, reported that a number of children had gone on to tho primary schools this term, but that the rolls had been filled up very quickly. There had been a number of changes in the staff of the various kindergartens. The students’ handwork was now ready for inspeoi tion, and would be on display on Thursday, October 16. The combined mothers’ group was working well for the annual competition and display, which would bo held about the beginning of November. Miss Hamilton, director of the preschool educational centre, submitted a report on the progress of the work at the centre, and it hoped to bo able to admit the children very shortly. There had been .great activity during the month among, the local committees. Kaikorai Committee reported a successful “ bring and buy ” sale, £47 13s 6d having been added to their funds. 11. S. (Reynolds Committee organised a jumble sole, which realised £lO 16s Id. North-east Valley Committee had combined with the Mothers’ Club and raised £7 14s 6d, and Richard Hudson Committee had raised £2O 5s by similar means. Mrs J. A. Hanan, who, with Lady Sidey, represented the Dunedin Council at the recent conference in Wellington, gave an interesting report on the various findings of the conference.
