TELEPHONE EXCHANGE SUPERVISOR FAREWELLED
The staff of the Dunedin Automatic Telephone Exchange entertained Miss B. J. Johnson to afternoon tea on the occasion of her retirement from the Post' and Telegraph Department on Wednesday last. Miss Johnson was presented with a floral dress spray on behalf of the toll operators. Mr H. Miller, Chief Postmaster, Mr G. W, Adamson, deputy postmaster, Mr W. A. Boswnrth, acting telephone manager, and Mr E. J. Kerr, staff supervisor, spoke in eulogistic terms of Miss Johnson’s capabilities. After reading a valedictory letter from the Director-General of the Post Office (Mr J. G. Young), a telegram from Mr W. 18. Xewall t the Deputy Director-General, and a letter of good wishes from the PostmasterGeneral (Mr P. C. Webb), and some 35 telegrams from her associates. Mr Miller, on behalf of the staff, presented Miss Johnson with a silver fruit bowl and expressed the good wishes of the staff. After the serving of afternoon tea. Miss Johnson suitably responded, and expressed gratification at the cordial association which had always existed between the officers of,the department and herself.
