CLAY BIRD SHOOTING
SOUTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP Weather conditions were good at the Dunedin Gun Club's grounds at Green Island yesterday for the South Island clay bird trap shooting championship. There were 38 entrants. SOUTH ISLAND CLAY TARGET CHAMPIONSHIP. 1 (25 targets, at 18yds.) A. N. Turner (Christchurch) and D. Campbell (Balclutha) both broke 25. Turner broke all with his first barrel, and Campbell 24 with his first barrel. They went on for another 22 birds, Campbell missing his twenty-second, giving- Turner the match Turner broke 47 birds —a possible. H. W. Brooks (Outram), S. B. Leash (Lauder), G. M. Doyle (Lecston) 24, W. Elliott (Balclutha), E. P. Graham (Abbotsford), T. W. Burgess (Gatlins) 23. W. B. Telford (Otanomomo), G. M. Greenslade (Dunedin) 22 birds, also competed. £SO OPEN CLAY BIRD HANDICAP. (20 targets.) S. B. Leask (Lauder, 14yds), D. R. Leask (Lauder, 12yds), J. R. Roy (Palmerston, 13yds), T. W. Burgess (Gatlins, 12yds), H. F. Broad (Invercargill, 11yds) 20 targets, divided the prize money. Tom Leith (Lauder, 14yds), S. Gcddes
(Outram, 12yds), T. A. Cloustou (Lauder, 19yds), A. N. Turner (Christchurch, 17yds), W. Elliott (Balclutha, 15yds), S. J. Lugg (11yds', A. J. Shaw (11yds), W. Norland (Green Island, 11yds), all secured 18 birds. There wore 37 competitors. SWEEPSTAKE MATCH. A 15-bird handicap sweepstake match was held, 30 competing. The following nine competitors broke the possible:—J. K. Begg (11yds), W. Elliott (11yds), L. P. Hayes (16yds), G. E. Turner* (15yds), G. Broad (15vds). T. Blackler (Invercargill, 13yds), T. W.
