COMMUNITY SING

The proceeds from to-day’s sing, amounting to £23, will go to the patriotic funds. There was a large attendance, and a baby’s white woollen outfit, as well as flowers and goods, found a ready sale. The special attraction was the singing of Mr Arthur Mac-; donald, which received enthusiastic applause. The poem, ‘ Britain s Heroes,’ which was (broadcast from tne 8.8. C. some weeks ago, was recited by Mr H. P. Desmoulins. Mr Desmoulins led the sing, assisted by Mr J. P. Himburg, with Mr Alf. Pettitt at the piano. Donations are acknowledged as follows :—“ In Appreciation of the Leader,” £5; Normanhy (weekly), 4s; 5s piece sold for 12s 6d; “ Singing of N.Z. Songs,” £2 2s; Mrs Paterson, ss; M.E.G., £1; J. M. Jones, Beverley street, St. Albans, Christchurch, £1; goods from Mesdames W. Wright, Weicks, M. Brennan, Hellyer, Humphrey, G. Smith, G.
