EXPANSION LEAGUE DISCUSSIONS The monthly meeting of the Executive .Committee of tlve Otago Expansion League was held on Tuesday night, Mr H. M. Mackay presiding over a fair attendance of members. Advice was received from the West Harbour Borough Council that Mr F. Mitchell would represent the borough on the Executive Committee. Correspondence from tho_ Public Works Department, Dunedin, intimated that a detailed plan of the Maniototo irrigation •tn-a would bo completed very shortly .1,1 id forwarded to tho league immediately. Several members instanced cases which had come under their notice, but the executive could only say that the matter had not previously been brought before its notice. The secretary was instructed to advise tho Southland League accordingly. RELATIONS WITH RUSSIA. A report was given by tho President on the meeting organised by the Dunedin branch of the Now Zealand Society for Closer .Relations witli Russia, which he had* been invited to attend. The action of the president in representing tho league was fully endorsed by the members, and the opinion was expressed that Russia was fully deserving of all the support which could be afforded her, and that everything should be done to promote closer cultural, diplomatic, and economic relations with the Soviet Union. DUNEDIN TRAVEL CLUB. Mr Mackay reported on his attendance at the annual meeting of the Dunedin Travel Club. .After receiving the report, it was suggested that some of the league’s literature should be made available to the Travel Club so that visitors could bo enlightened regarding the scenic beauties of both the city and province.
