Captain L. A. Rhodes, assistant area officer for Otago, is at present on leave. He is being relieved by Captain J. F. Ruddy. Captain W. E. Muuday, N.Z.T.S., has been appointed General Staff Officer 3 (Signals) of the Southern Military District. He will act in that capacity in addition to carrying out his training duties at Burnham Mobilisation Camp. Word was received yesterday that, owing to illness, Commissioner J. E, Smith, Territorial Commander of the Salvation Army in New Zealand, will not be able to undertake the tour of Otago and Southland, which he was to have commenced , this week.. His place will be taken by Lieutenantcolonel Lord and Mrs Lord, who are on leave froni the Salvation Army Mission Station in Malaya, and they will follow the itinerary arranged for tho Commissioner. Colonel Lord will arrive in Dunedin on Saturday. He will address meetings here at the week end, and will leave on Monday for the south. . , At the annual meeting of the Dunedin Swimming Club last night > a motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Mr W.
