HEADLIGHT RESTRICTIONS

FIRST AUCKLAND PROSECUTIONS (P.A.) AUCKLAND, October 1. The first Auckland prosecutions under the new headlight restriction regulations were brought by the traffic department of the Auckland City Council against five motorists who appeared before Mr F. H. Levien, S.M., to-day.

The charges were of failing to dip their car lights as the blackout conditions demanded. Fines ranging from 10s to 30s, with costs, were imposed. The Magistrate said that substantially heavier fines would he inflicted in the future, particularly when the offence occurred on roads open to the sea.
