RUSSIA—DEMOCRACY OR DICTATORSHIP.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —“ Student ” suggests that some information be given on the question of Russia being a democracy or dictatorship. Personally, I have no hesitation in saying that the Russian Government is definitely democratic, even more so than those of Great Britain and the United States. I would suggest that “ Student ” read ‘ The Soviet 1 Constitution—Democracy or Dictatorship,’ by those two eminent Britishers. Beatrice and Sydhey Webb (Lord Rassfield), who very closely analyse# the system of government in the U.S.S.R. I also recommend that he reads the books written about the U.S.S.R. by the Right Rev. Dr Hewlett Johnson (Dean of Canterbury), especially ‘The Socialist Sixth of the World,’ and be will learn with amazement the remarkable achievements of the people—workers of the U.S.S.R. under tho Socialist Soviet system of government, plus the inspiring lead given them by their scientifi-cally-minded leaders.—l am, etc., William Dickinson.
