EXECUTIVE MEETS At the meeting of the executive of the Retlirried Soldiers’ Association last night Mr D. S. Chisholm was in the chair, and tho other members present were Messrs S. G. Secular, C. 11. M‘Lean, G. W. Fer Ons, J. M. Wfiite, A. M‘Hutchoii, W. F. Forrester, J. B. Stewart, A. Duncan. H. Perry, W. H. Thomson. In reply to a letter to Dominion headquarters, advice was received that lists of men serving overseas in the Navy, - Army, and Air Force are in the hands of printers, and rolls will be compiled and adequate provision will bO made for every matt entitled to a vote to record it, and that an Act containing provision fbr this is in the hands of the Government but has not yet been presented to the Housb of Representatives. Advice was received from the Dominion Council that an extraordinary general meeting would be held iu Wellington on October 29 and 30. The subjects t 6 be discussed, were rehabilitation, land settlement, war pensions, conscientious objectors-and defaulters, other matters concerning the fighting services, and the change of name of the association. Notice of motion, was given—“ That the name of tho association should be changed to tho New Zealand Returned Services Association.”

“ This is going to he a very important conference,” said the secretary (Mr O. L. Kerens). “ 1 feel that Wo should be as strongly represented as possible.” Other members supported this view. A circular from the Dominion headquarters stated that the financial members of the 83 associations totalled 29,807, of whom 003 were returned men of the Second N.Z.E.F., as compared with 20,546 for the previous year.

It was to hold a conference of branches in November. Nominations numbered 14, of which four were from members of the First N.Z.E.F., and 10 from members of the Second N.Z.E.F. Transfers out numbered three, and two deaths were recorded. It was decided to hold two social functions in October. All returned men of the Second N.Z.E.F. will be invited to the first function, and at the second the group committees of the Dunedin R.S.A. Women’s War Auxiliary will be entertained.
