The_ awards are for junior pianoforte playing and for the junior musicianship examination. The difficult musicianship examinations were inaugurated by Trinity College in 1933. Victor Jones is the only candidate in New Zealand who has taken these examinations in succession, having passed the first six grades in three years and gaining the highest possible honours marks in each grade.
