WORK OF ONE-MAN TRIBUNALS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 29. The Dominion Executive Committee of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association, recently urged thai cases of conscientious objectors which go before the special one-man tribunals should be heard in public, has received a reply from the Deputy Minister of National Service, Mr Wilson. The Minister points out that as members of the tribunals will be concerned with details of ah objector’s employment, his financial position, and probably in some cases with details relating to his employer, it was decided after very careful consideration that the hearings should be taken in private. “ Yon will recall, however,” Mr Wilson adds, “that the Acting Prime Minister, Mr Nash, told the House of Representatives that the decisions would be available for publication. This, I think, adequately meets the position.’*
